Nai
Yang Beach, combined with Mai Khao Beach to the north, is the longest stretch
of sandy beach on the island, covering 9 km. It is here that you will find giant
sea turtles and throughout the dry season, October through February, this is where
they come ashore to lay their eggs.
One of the activities
of the Songkhran Festival in April is to release turtles back to the sea. There
is great swimming and snorkeling along this beach with access to Phuket Campground
and Nai Yang National Park. There's great golfing east at Blue Canyon Golf Club
and the airport is out this way too.
NAI THON BEACH
Naithon
Beach is one of the last remaining undeveloped spots on the island. Just a lovely
beach, shady trees, a few sea food restaurants and a few small hotels and guest
houses. Although it is close to the airport, it remains isolated, peaceful, scenic
and totally relaxing. Phuket as it was 20 years ago.
